First of all, I want to wish all of you reading this a very happy New Years! Thank you to all of you who have encouraged my writing with your comments and questions. It’s been very enjoyable, and I look forward to the future.
Having just watched the ball drop in Times Square on TV, I have a few thoughts. First, what a pathetic display of commercialized GloboHomo stupidity. People standing in “socially distanced” pens (Never mind the fact that most of them probably walked through the same security check points and other bottle necks to get there…) with their trendy purple glitter masks and Planet Fitness hats (While hundreds of small business gyms and other small businesses struggle to keep their doors open…).
While I choked back the bile listening to some trendy, media promoted singer sing “Imagine” with such interesting lyrics as “I hope you’ll join us, and the world will be as one..” I couldn’t help but wonder who made the call to sing that particular song.
Later, after the ball dropped to a countdown timer superimposed over a KIA car ad (I can’t imagine the droves of people rushing out to buy a KIA because of it..) the few attendees were treated to Frank Sinatra’s “Theme from New York, New York”. This got them all jiggling around in their cubicles. What fun!
It got me to thinking what would Ol’ Blue Eyes make of these GloboHomo’s using his music while creating such a sacrilege of our society?
I immediately thought of my favorite Frank Sinatra song, “My Way”. With such great lyrics as:
“But through it all when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all, And I stood tall
And did it my way”
And my favorite:
“For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows
And did it my way
Yes, it was my way”
I have a feeling that he would look at these clowns, scratch his head in bewilderment, and chuckle. That’s more than they deserve.
So while I’m not a “New Years Resolution” kind of guy, I will certainly be resolute this year and be doing things so that I too can say I did it “My Way”.
